A principal-led CPA firm
Corey Roder, CPA PLLC is a certified public accounting and advisory firm led by Corey Roder, CPA. The firm provides outsourced accounting, fractional controller and CFO support, tax planning and preparation, business advisory, and transaction-related financial analysis to growing businesses — with particular depth in construction and the specialty trades.
Work is performed by a licensed CPA who has worked in public accounting, in technical accounting consulting, and as an operator running the financial and operational side of a business.
Need an audit, review, or other assurance engagement? We can help coordinate it. Corey Roder, CPA PLLC maintains referral relationships with independent CPA firms that provide these services. The assurance engagement is separately contracted with and performed by the independent CPA firm.
How the firm works
The firm covers a range from maintaining accounting records, through controller-level oversight of the close and management reporting, up to CFO-level forecasting and decision support. Businesses engage at one level or across several, depending on where the gap is.
Outsourced Accounting — accounting records maintained, financial reporting prepared, cleanup and catch-up work.
Fractional Controller — close process oversight, reconciliations, consistent management reporting.
Fractional CFO — forecasting, modeling, financing preparation, decision support.
Tax Strategy — planning integrated with business decisions, and compliance support.
Business Advisory — project-based work on a defined problem.
Quality of Earnings and Mergers & Acquisitions — transaction-related financial analysis.
Construction and the specialty trades
Construction carries accounting requirements most general setups are not built for — job-level cost tracking, work-in-progress reporting, retainage, billing that runs ahead of or behind completed work, and change orders that alter contract value mid-project.
Having run a construction company as its COO and CFO, Corey approaches those conversations from having made the decisions, not only from having reported on them.
Corey Roder, CPA — Founder
Corey served in the United States Army before earning degrees in Marketing, Chemistry, and Biology, and a Master’s in Accounting, and becoming a licensed CPA.
He began his career in private equity, then joined Grant Thornton as an auditor, working across banking, real estate, technology, and manufacturing. He went on to national consulting firms, working in technical accounting — including ASC 606 revenue recognition and ASC 842 lease accounting — and on automation projects. He consulted for Toyota Financial Services, participating in a transition from GAAP to IFRS and working on financial processes.
As an entrepreneur, Corey founded a distillery and a construction company. At the construction company he served as COO and CFO, managing the financial and operational decisions of the business across multiple states. He left both with trained successors in place.
That combination — public accounting, technical accounting, and having run a construction business from inside — is the background he brings to client work.
Corey’s audit experience at Grant Thornton reflects prior employment. When an audit, review, or other assurance engagement is required today, Corey Roder, CPA PLLC can coordinate an introduction to an independent CPA firm with which we maintain a referral relationship. The engagement is separately contracted with and performed by that firm.
